Asian Pacific Women's Center (APWC, Tax deductible ID: 93-1102854) is dedicated to providing a safe haven and support services for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. Our mission is to provide an environment that is sensitive to the cultural and language needs of Asian and Pacific Islander domestic violence survivors and their families, as they acquire the necessary skills and personal strength for self-sufficiency and violence-free lives.
APWC is also committed to education and outreach, raising awareness about domestic violence, and fostering violence prevention
Position Description
:
Asian Pacific Women's Center seeks an Executive Director with a deep commitment to domestic violence prevention, culturally sensitive support services and housing for survivors. She/he will communicate the vision and direction of APWC and lead staff and volunteers to ensure domestic violence is recognized and addressed in the API community. The Executive Director will be responsible for the agency staff with an annual budget of $300,000. Finally, she/he will serve as an advocate on domestic violence issues in the government, media, and the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Communication:
- Communicate APWC vision and motivate APWC staff, volunteers and the domestic violence community at large to implement this vision.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships for programs and funding.
Community Outreach, Partnership and Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with other organizations, elected officials, corporate entities and other domestic violence service providers.
- Represent APWC at government and community meetings, and outreach events.
- Partner with community organizations in order to design programs and provide necessary services for target population.
Board:
- Work in partnership with Board President and board committee chairs to develop funding priorities; cultivate strong relationships with all board members.
Revenue:
- Ensure responsible, diversified, and growth-oriented stewardship of funds.
- Identify and secure additional funding sources, including individual and corporate donors.
- Oversee and manage all grant proposals, including grant writing.
Budgeting and Fiscal Oversight:
- Oversee the creation of the annual agency budget, with input from Board and staff.
- Manage revenues and expenses to meet budget targets.
Program Oversight:
- Design and implement appropriate programs to meet our clients' needs.
Management:
- Provide day-to-day management, training and supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Ensure APWC is in compliance with all funders' requirements and directives.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to funders, board of directors and other parties when necessary.
- Encourage staff and volunteers to continue learning about their professions and services programs; provide opportunities for staff to grow professionally.
- Maintain a positive and strong organizational culture that helps attract and retain creative, competent, and committed staff.
Qualifications
:
REQUIRED:
- Compassionate leader with an unwavering commitment to violence free families.
- Executive level experience that includes planning, budgeting, management, and experience serving and coordinating boards or committees.
- Proven ability to work with effectively with and provide leadership to multiple stakeholders.
- Experience providing or advocating for non profit organizations.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to bring groups of people together around a shared goal.
- Fundraising capabilities, particularly experience in grant writing.
- Experience developing and overseeing a budget of $300,000+.
- Masters Degree or Bachelor’s degree plus commensurate experience.
- Strong listening, public speaking, and writing skills.
- Experience in program oversight and development.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment, which may include financial institutions, administrative, or government agencies.
PREFERRED:
- Experience working with the API community.
- Fluency in an Asian language.
- Experience raising funds from government, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
- Eperience working with elected officials.
- Knowledge of outcome-based evaluation.
- Experience in California state government and nonprofit organizations.
